Bekah’s Gatlinburg Itinerary

Family vacations are a little more laid back for me and not so much about seeing everything I can but more about spending time with my family. The house we stayed at was up in the mountains and we saw bears almost everyday. It was the whole mountain environment of a cabin with bears and a view of the mountains in the window.

Something to be aware of before visiting the park is that there are black bears in the park and make sure you know what to do just in case. The park has a variety of trails, overlooks, campgrounds, and natural beauty. The park truly is breathtaking and a must see

After leaving the place, we had plenty of stops. We first stopped to do a short walk to a water fountain, then we took a picture at the national park sign, stopped at an overlook, then we made it to the Newfound Gap, which is at the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. After that we did a 4×4 off road experience before heading back.

In order to get to the Skybridge, you will first need to take the SkyLift Gondola up to the mountain top. Once at the top, there is seating and little stores. When you get to the bridge you can walk across but in the middle don’t look down if you are afraid of height since there is a section of the bridge that is glass. Once you reach the other side, there are beautiful views of the Great Smoky Mountains.

There’s different companies that offer rafting trips. There are a variety of difficultly levels, so if you want to be more adventurous do one with high rapids, or if you have little kids do a more chill trip. I think white water rafting is so much fun and a great way to cool down in the hot summer months.
